Chelsea to lodge appeal against Fifa's transfer ban with Court of Arbitration(Telegraph)

Fifa found the Premier League pacesetters guilty of inducing teenager Gael Kakuta to breach his contract with Lens two years ago and banned them from signing any new players in the next two transfer windows.

Chelsea will lodge their full appeal with CAS and are expected to request a 'fast-track' hearing, to which Fifa would also have to agree to.

Once the club has notified CAS of its intention to appeal, which must be done by tomorrow, they have a further 10 days to lodge the papers with them.

A one-window ban is unlikely to hurt Chelsea too much as they have carried out little business in January during previous seasons.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Hilario is expecting to make way for Czech Republic international Petr Cech against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Hilario was impressive when he deputised for the suspended Cech in the 2-0 win over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge prior to the international break.

Hilario, who signed a new contract with Chelsea in the summer, knows that Cech will want his shirt back and has no complaints.

"I am pleased to be here," said Hilario. "I love this club, I like very much the people around and I love London.

"My family is really settled, my kids too and I want to continue here, I want to do good work."

Midfielder Michael Ballack is expected to be fit to face Villa after recovering from an ankle injury sustained on international duty with Germany.

FIFAから2011年冬までの移籍禁止のペナルティを言い渡されているチェルシーだが、明日までにCASに対して弁論を行う必要がある。

チェルシーはFIFAのペナルティをひっくり返すことに自信を持ち、結果を楽観視しているが、現実はそんなに甘くはない。

FIFAはチェルシーの件をきっかけにしてプレミアリーグの移籍問題について踏みこもうとしており、移籍金の高騰、未成年の移籍について厳しい態度を貫くつもりでいる。

チェルシーの件は有罪がはっきりしていることであり、この件できっちりペナルティを下すことで移籍に関する曖昧な部分をなくそうとしているのだ。

一方、チェルシーはきちんと移籍金を払っており、無罪を主張している。チェルシーにしてみれば、移籍ウインドウを２回も閉ざされることは高齢化の進むチームの活性化を止めることになり、致命的なことになる。それは避けなければならない。

CASがどういう判断をするかはまだわからないが、チェルシーにとっては運命を決める１日となりそうだ。
