Serie A Matchday 18 Cagliari 1-3 Juventus @ Stadio Tardini Cagliari:Mauricio Pinilla 16(r) Juventus:Alessandro Matri 75,90+2,Mirko Vučinić 90+5 Spirited showing earns win over Cagliari(Juventus Official Website)
A spirited second-half display earned the Bianconeri a deserved 3-1 victory from a hard-fought encounter with Cagliari at Parma’s Stadio Tardini. The visitors struggled to impose their free flowing passing game in the first-half and fell behind when Pinilla stroked home from the spot on 16 minutes. But Conte’s men upped the ante following the interval and gained a warranted equaliser through substitute Matri on 75 minutes. The former Cagliari frontman doubled his tally to put the Bianconeri in front in added time, with fellow substitute Vucinic completing the rout by tapping home late on. Cagliari, who went into the encounter without a win in seven games, pinned the Bianconeri deep inside their own half in an aggressive opening to proceedings. Their perseverance was rewarded when Vidal clipped Sau in the penalty area on 15 minutes, prompting Damato to point to the penalty spot. Pinilla stepped up to lash his spot kick beyond the grasp of Buffon and into the top corner. Juve’s responded instantly and almost got back on level terms when Asamaoh’s cross flashed across the face of goal, with Quagliarella a whisker away from steering the ball on target. Conte’s rallying cry at the break saw Juventus emerge for the second-half with added drive and intensity. Marchisio stung the fingertips of Agazzi with a rasping drive on 48 minutes, but Sau provided a warning of Cagliari’s potential on the counter by almost catching Buffon unawares with a curling shot on the turn moments later. The visitors thought they had snatched an equaliser when substitute Matri reacted quickest to Bonucci’s header off the crossbar, only to see Agazzi perform miracles to prevent the ball from crossing the line. The Bianconeri’s unrelenting approach saw the game spark into life and, with temperatures threatening to boil over on the field of play, Astori was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence. With Vucinic introduced to sharpen up the Juventus attack, it was only a matter of time until the visitors got back on level terms. Del Rosso’s foul on Giovinco in the box appeared to represent the ideal opportunity to restore parity, only for Vidal to pass up the opportunity by sending the ball skywards. Undeterred, Juventus continued to stream forward in their quest for a goal and found the target when Matri pounced to sweep home Vucinic’s parried attempt on 75 minutes. But the Bianconeri weren’t finished there as Agazzi, who performed further heroics by clawing away Asamoah’s header with two minutes of normal time remaining, was left to rue some poor defending which enabled Matri to fire into the corner and provoke rapturous scenes on the Juventus bench. And with the six minutes of added time drawing to a close, Vucinic arrived late in the box to force Giovinco’s attempt over the line and guarantee a winning end to 2012.

Madrid's Liga rivals Barcelona renew acquaintances with Milan, a team they played in the group stage and quarter-finals last season. More famously, they went head-to-head in the 1994 Athens showpiece, Daniele Massaro scoring twice in a 4-0 victory for the Rossoneri.

Serie A Matchday 17 Juventus 3-0 Atalanta @ Juventus Stadium JUventus:Mirko Vučinić 2,Andrea Pirlo 14,Claudio Marchisio 27 Juve cruise to victory over Atalanta(Juventus Official Website)
The Bianconeri brought down the curtains on a fine 2012 at Juventus Stadium with a commanding 3-0 victory over Atalanta. In truth, the destiny of the points was never in doubt following a barnstorming first-half display in which Juventus found themselves three goals ahead inside the opening 26 minutes. Atalanta, who had lost their previous three encounters on the road in all competitions, barely had time to settle into their game plan before Consigli was picking the ball out the back of his net. With the team’s first attack of the game, Giovinco played in Vucinic and the Montenegrin kept his cool to put the Bianconeri in the driving seat with just 80 seconds on the clock. However, Juventus had to rely on the brilliance of Buffon to maintain their advantage after Marrone’s slip sent Denis racing towards goal. The goalkeeper stood his ground to pull off a magnificent save and dash the visitors’ hopes of mounting an instant fightback. With Pirlo running the show from midfield as the hosts raided forward with intent, the midfield maestro gained his reward for a superb start to the encounter when Giovinco was obstructed by Bellini on 14 mintues, bringing the entire stadium to its feet by curling in the subsequent free-kick from 30 yards. Refusing to settle for their two-goal cushion, Conte’s men almost made it three when a rare Chiellini forage into enemy territory saw the defender crash a fiercely-struck effort past the far post. The third eventually arrived on 27 minutes, with Marchisio receiving the ball in acres of space and having plenty of time to steady himself before finding the bottom corner with a venomous strike from range. Atalanta’s afternoon then went from bad to worse as Manfredini was given his marching orders following two bookable offences. Some choice words during the interval from opposing manager Stefano Colantuono steadied the visitors’ ship somewhat, but they were unable to fully stem the tide as Juventus streamed forward in numbers. As the game wore on, Giovinco continued his personal duel with Nerazzurri goalkeeper Consigli, drawing a strong save from his curling left-footed strike on 49 minutes. Also threatening the target was Quagliarella, on in place of Vucinic, but the Napoli-born frontman was left to rue his luck after seeing his close-range follow up chalked off for offside. Conte continued to shuffle his pack after the break, introducing Padoin and Giaccherini in place of Barzagli and Marchisio. The midfield duo brought added energy to the Juventus midfield and continued the team’s quest for a greater lead. Further efforts from Pirlo, Asamoah, Quagliarella and Vidal proved to be in vain as Massa’s final whistle brought a scintillating afternoon’s football to a close, extending Juve’s lead at the top to seven points and sending the Bianconeri faithful home with plenty of festive cheer.

Coppa Italia Tim Cup Round of 16 Juventus 1-0 Cagliari @ Juventus Stadium Juventus:Sebastian Giovinco 57 12/12/12: Giovinco day!(Juventus Official Website)
The Bianconeri crowned Antonio Conte’s return to the Juventus Stadium dugout by booking their place in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals with a 1-0 win over Cagliari. Conte’s presence on the touchline warmed the hearts of Juventus fans on a bitterly cold night in Turin, and his team claimed the victory they fully deserved when Giovinco capitalised on a moment’s hesitation in the Rossoblu rearguard to strike the winner with 57 minutes played. As expected, Conte made wholesale changes for the Bianconeri’s debut in this year’s domestic cup competition. Marrone replaced Chiellini in defence, Isla and De Ceglie came in on the flanks to support a midfield trio of Vidal, Padoin and Pogba, while Bendtner partnered the returning Giovinco in attack. Juventus created several chances to open the scoring in a lively opening period. With just seven minutes played, Giovinco found himself in a strong position to beat Avramov but failed to apply enough power to his goalbound attempt. Bendtner was next to go close three minutes later, jinking past Perico before sending his right-footed effort wide of the target. The Dane was again at the centre of the action in the 20th minute, only for Avramov to thwart his low strike with a smart diving save. Vidal, a late inclusion in the starting line-up at the expense of Giaccherini, saw his night come to a premature end after taking a knock on the halfway line, hobbling off to be replaced by Asamoah. Joining the Chilean in the dressing room before the end of the first-half was Bendtner, who pulled up after showing plenty of bravery to win a challenge with Perico. Matri came on in place of the on-loan front man. Despite producing a host of opportunities in a controlled second-half display, just one goal proved to be enough to see the the Bianconeri safely through to the next round, with Giovinco pouncing to sweep home from close range following some haphazard defending by the visitors. Conte will have welcomed the opportunity to cast his eye over those who have seen less game time throughout a busy opening half of the season, and will now lead his side into a quarter-final tie against either Milan or Reggina. BOOKINGS: Eriksson 17, Pinilla 34, Perico 82, Thiago Ribeiro 90

Serie A Matchday 16 Palermo 0-1 Juventus @ Renzo Barbera JUventus:Stephan Lichtsteiner 50 Lichtsteiner seals winning return for Conte(Juventus Official Website)
Stephan Lichtsteiner’s second-half goal against Palermo made it a winning return to the Bianconeri dugout for Antonio Conte. Juventus were full value for the three points at the Renzo Barbera but were made to wait until five minutes after the restart before making their dominance count. Further chances came and went as the visitors were left to rue their misfortune in front of goal, but Conte will take heart from his side’s spirited display on the back of Wednesday’s energy-sapping victory over Shakhtar Donetsk. For the trip to Sicily, Conte restored Marchisio to the starting line-up following the midfielder’s midweek European suspension and brought in Matri to operate alongside Vucinic in place of the suspended Giovinco. Heavy rainfall in the local region prior to kick-off looked to pose a threat to the Bianconeri’s customary slick passing game, and Palermo aimed to take full advantage in a lively opening period. Kurtic registered the first shot on goal which was beaten away on 11 minutes, while Barzagli was forced to make a last-ditch block moments later as Iliic swivelled dangerously in the area. Having seen a well-executed Miccoli finish ruled out for offside, Juventus raised their game and put the Rosanero under a significant spell of pressure. Marchisio had the first meaningful attempt on the half-hour mark, curling a right-footed shot over the bar after receiving the ball on the edge of the area. This paved the way for a frenzied finish to the first half, with Vucinic a lick of paint away from putting the Bianconeri in front after instinctively following up Marchisio’s blocked effort on 37 minutes. Matri, recalled to the side following a lengthy spell on the substitutes bench, also went close to finding the target after Vidal’s fine cross split the Rosanero rearguard. Ujkani, however, was quick off his line to make a smart stop. A few choice words from Conte at the break saw Juventus reemerge with an added spring in their step. Vucinic immediately suffered the same fate that befell him in the first period, striking the post for a second time courtesy of a left-footed strike across the face of goal. Yet the Montenegrin picked himself up to place a sumptuous backheel into the path of the onrushing Lichtsteiner, who kept his cool to comfortably slot past Ujkani on 50 minutes. As the tough playing conditions continued to pose even greater difficulty to both sides, Juventus, bolstered by the added physical presence of Pogba, Padoin and Bendtner, rose to the challenge, snapping into their opponents with a host of well-timed challenges and interceptions. Palermo’s uphill task became even more of a tall order when Morganella was given his marching orders with 15 minutes remaining following two bookable offences. Vucinic had the chance to wrap up all three points when he was sent through one-on-one with Ujkani in the dying stages, but the goalkeeper did well to narrow the angle and thwart the striker’s chipped attempt with a strong block. The result takes Juventus five points clear at the top ahead of tonight’s showdown between Scudetto contenders Inter and Napoli.

UEFA Champions League Group E Matchday 6 Shakhtar 0-1 Juventus @ Donbass Arena Juventus:Own Goal(Oleksandr Kucher) 56 Shakhtar own goal confirms Juventus progress(uefa.com)
Published: Wednesday 5 December 2012, 23.01CET FC Shakhtar Donetsk 0-1 Juventus Olexandr Kucher put into his net 11 minutes into the second half, a goal which sent Juventus through as Group E winners ahead of their hosts. Juventus overhauled FC Shakhtar Donetsk at the top of UEFA Champions League Group E after a narrow victory in Ukraine. Though a point would have been enough for the Serie A leaders to progress alongside their opponents, the Bianconeri showed their attacking intent as they dominated the first half. They continued to create chances after the break and finally got the goal they deserved on 56 minutes when Shakhtar centre-back Olexandr Kucher, under pressure from Sebastian Giovinco, turned Stephan Lichtsteiner's low cross past Andriy Pyatov. The hosts had enjoyed a bright beginning, with the dangerous Willian providing a threat via his incisive running. However, it was clear from the outset that the Pitmen were missing the suspended Luiz Adriano, such a crucial component in Shakhtar's usually well-oiled attacking machine. As the half wore on, Juventus grew in confidence and should have taken the lead on the 30-minute mark. An innocuous long ball out of defence caused Mircea Lucescu's side all sorts of problems. A slip by Taras Stepanenko put Mirko Vučinić through, he squared to Giovinco, but with plenty of time and the goal at his mercy, the forward shot wide of Pyatov's left-hand post. Juventus were in control, yet for all their pressure and good approach play, Pyatov was largely untroubled for the remainder of the period. The game got off to an express start after the resumption as Lucescu sent on Marko Dević for Eduardo in attack. Indeed, Alex Teixeira, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Andrea Pirlo all had presentable opportunities to put their respective teams in front, though each failed to hit the target. However, the deadlock was finally broken before the hour, as Lichtsteiner was put through on the right by Vučinić. The Swiss international's centre took a slight deflection and, with Giovinco lurking, Kucher diverted the ball into his own net. It capped a disappointing night for the defender, who was booked in the first half and will miss the first leg of Shakhtar's last-16 tie as a consequence. With their grip on pole position slipping, the Ukrainian champions poured forward in search of an equaliser. They almost got it when Kwadwo Asamoah deflected Răzvan Raţ's testing delivery past Gianluigi Buffon and against the upright. That was as close as Shakhtar would come – their evening was summed up by Mkhitaryan's wild effort from distance with five minutes remaining. The only sour mark for Juventus was the late caution for Giorgio Chiellini which rules him out of their next UEFA match.
for Juventus was the late caution for Giorgio Chiellini which rules him out of their next UEFA match.

Serie A Matchday 15 Juventus 3-0 Torino @ Juventus Stadium Juventus:Claudio Marchisio 57,84,Sebastian Giovinco 67 Boyhood Bianconeri see off rivals Torino(Juventus Official Website)
Academy stars Claudio Marchisio and Sebastian Giovinco were on target as the Bianconeri put local rivals Torino to the sword in a 3-0 win at Juventus Stadium. In truth, Juventus could have won by an even greater margin after crushing their opponents with a ruthless second-half display. A fractious encounter, which featured a sending off and a missed Andrea Pirlo penalty, came to life in the opening stages of the second half when Marchisio met Giovinco’s cross to head the hosts in front. Provider then turned goalscorer on 67 minutes with a drilled shot across goal, before Marchisio popped up in the box to make the points safe with five minutes remaining. With an eye on Wednesday’s crucial Champions League clash against Shakhtar in Donetsk, Antonio Conte made several changes to his starting line-up and system. De Ceglie came in at left-back, Pogba slotted into midfield and Giaccherini offered support to Vucinic and Giovinco in attack. Sparks were always destined to fly in the first encounter of the inter-city rivals since the 2008/09 campaign. And while the Bianconeri posed a consistent threat going forward, it was the visitors who fashioned the first clear-cut attempt on goal with 23 minutes played, Meggiorini shrugging off the challenge of Bonucci before clipping the ball just wide of Buffon’s far post. Juventus fought back by testing Gillet with two long-range efforts from Pogba just beyond the half-hour mark, both clawed away to safety by the Belgian shot-stopper. With the heat of the derby atmosphere continuing to rise as Conte’s men knocked on the door, Torino midfielder Glik was shown a straight red card following a rash challenge on Giaccherini. Five minutes before the interval, Juventus were presented with the perfect opportunity to edge their noses in front when Pogba was upended in the area. Rocchi had no hesitation in pointing to the spot, only for Pirlo to fluff his lines by sending his effort over the bar. Alessio opted to introduce Bendtner at the start of the second half in place of Giaccherini, a move which saw the Bianconeri operate with three recognised strikers in an adventurous system. The substitution almost paid immediate dividends, as Pogba headed over following a neat Bendtner flick-on at the near post. Further opportunities continued to fall in the hosts’ favour as they launched a relentless assault on Torino’s penalty area. Pirlo stung the fingertips of Gillet from outside the box, Bonucci planted a header over the bar from a corner and Vucinic was a whisker away from steering Giovinco’s teasing cross into the back of the net. But Juventus maintained their composure and reaped the rewards when Marchisio timed his forward burst to perfection to head Giovinco’s cross past Gillet on 57 minutes. Sensing the opportunity to inflict further damage upon their inter-city rivals, Alessio introduced Asamoah in place of De Ceglie and urged the team to persist with their attacking approach. The two-goal cushion arrived ten minutes later, with Giovinco’s firm strike nestling deliciously into the bottom corner. Roared on from start to finish by a passionate sell-out crowd at Juventus Stadium, Conte’s men wrapped up the points six minutes from time as Marchisio, a thorn in the visitors’ side throughout, grabbed his second of the night with a precise close-range finish. Serie A Matchday 14 Milan 1-0 Juventus @ Giuseppe Meazza Milan:Robinho 31(r) Juve defeated in Milan(Juventus Official Website)
A controversial first-half Robinho penalty settled a scrappy encounter at the San Siro and condemned Juventus to their second defeat of the season. Clear-cut chances were few and far between throughout a combative 90 minutes, but the Brazilian striker kept his cool from the spot to separate the sides after a contentious penalty was awarded for Isla’s alleged handball in the area. Juventus upped their game in the second half and pushed forward in search of an equaliser, yet Milan defended deep and resisted increased Bianconeri pressure to emerge with all three points. For the trip to the San Siro, Antonio Conte made two changes from the line-up which dismantled Chelsea in midweek. Having failed to fully shake off a calf problem in the build-up to the clash, Chiellini was replaced by Caceres, while Isla came in for Lichtsteiner on the right flank. The Rossoneri started the brighter of the two sides and fashioned the first meaningful opportunity on goal after 14 minutes. Boateng strode forward and tried to catch Buffon out with a low shot at the near post, forcing the Bianconeri custodian to get down and make a vital block. Conte’s men responded through Quagliarella, but the forward’s low left-footed strike was comfortably dealt with by Amelia. The turning point of the game came seconds before the half-hour mark, when Isla was adjudged to have handled an incoming cross from the right-hand side. Rizzoli pointed to the penalty spot, but subsequent television replays showed the ball strike the defender under the arm. Buffon guessed right and got a hand to Robinho’s spot kick, yet the Brazilian’s firmly struck effort squirmed out of his grasp and nestled in the corner. With the hosts defending admirably and providing Juventus little opportunity to express themselves in the final third, Alessio rang the changes in his quest to unlock the Rossoneri rearguard. Padoin was the first to enter the fray at the start of the second half, patrolling the right flank in place of Isla, while Giovinco offered a fresh alternative to Quagliarella in attack on 57 minutes. The diminutive striker went close to troubling Amelia with a spectacular acrobatic effort from Padoin’s right-sided delivery, but was unable to steer his attempt on target. The Bianconeri’s third and final change saw Pirlo deployed further forward to support the two strikers, with Pogba, on in place of Asamoah, shielding a makeshift back four. As the seconds ticked down towards the final whistle, the best opportunities to rescue a point fell to Vucinic. After seeing a close-range effort blocked by Constant’s despairing lunge, the forward then had a curling attempt turned behind for a corner. BOOKINGS: Nocerino 16, Isla 30, Bonucci 46, Marchisio 86, Yepes 90+4, Giovinco 90+4

UEFA Champions League Group E Matchday 5Juventus 3-0 Chelsea @ Juventus Stadium Juventus:Fabio Quagliarella 38,Arturo Erasmo Vidal 61,Sebastian Giovinco 90+1 Juventus beat Chelsea to put holders close to exit(uefa.com)
Juventus 3-0 Chelsea FC Goals from Fabio Quagliarella, Arturo Vidal and Sebastian Giovinco left Juve a point from the last 16 and the holders on the brink of an early exit. Juventus beat Chelsea FC 2-0 to leapfrog the UEFA Champions League title holders into second place in Group E with just one round of games remaining. The Bianconeri attacked from the start in front of their own fans and took the lead seven minutes from half-time when Fabio Quagliarella managed to divert Andrea Pirlo's shot past Petr Čech. Arturo Vidal made it two after the interval, via a deflection off Ramires, and substitute Sebastian Giovinco rounded off the scoring in added time. Juve are sure to qualify, and simultaneously eliminate the holders, with a draw at FC Shakhtar Donetsk on matchday six. Juventus had gone close to the breakthrough after four minutes when Mirko Vučinić's wonderful chip from the left found Stephan Lichtsteiner at the back post, but Čech kept out the right-back's volley, throwing himself to his left and turning the ball onto a post. Gianluigi Buffon soon responded to his opposing captain and keeper. Oscar, who had scored both Chelsea's goals in the 2-2 draw between these sides on matchday one, began an amazing solo run from his own half before passing to Eden Hazard on his right. Buffon somehow saved with his body and deflected the Belgium midfielder's shot wide. Čech was again called into action on 15 minutes, this time to palm away a powerful attempt by Claudio Marchisio following a smart corner from Pirlo. The Czech Republic international had fewer problems repelling subsequent efforts from Quagliarella, Vučinic and Pirlo as Juve continued to attack. Seven minutes from the break, however, not even Chelsea's No1 could prevent the Serie A champions from landing the first blow. Quagliarella showed great awareness to divert Pirlo's shot with his left foot, beyond Čech and into the bottom right-hand corner. The Bianconeri could have doubled their advantage instantly, yet Ashley Cole was well positioned on the line when David Luiz unwittingly sent the ball towards his own goal in attempting to clear. At the other end, Buffon kept out a Juan Mata volley at the conclusion of a quick Chelsea counterattack. Juventus continued to surge forward after the restart and Čech dived to turn wide a dangerous strike from Pirlo before coming out on top when one-on-one with Quagliarella. Once again, though, he was beaten by a deflection, Ramires knocking on Vidal's first-time shot after Kwadwo Asamoah's burst into the penalty area. Čech was caught out again in added time when Giovinco, racing onto Vidal's through ball, spotted him rushing off his line and stroked in the Turin club's 200th UEFA Champions League goal, group stage to final.

Serie A Matchday 13 Juventus 0-0 Lazio @ Juventus Stadium Juve held to goalless stalemate(Juventus Official Website)
A combination of the woodwork and heroics from Lazio goalkeeper Marchetti held the Bianconeri to a goalless stalemate on a cold autumn evening at Juventus Stadium. After a first half characterised by plenty of endeavour but little end product, Juventus came out all guns blazing after the break and should have clinched the victory their increased efforts merited. On the hour mark, Vidal saw his long-range drive, deflected goalwards by Quagliarella, kept out by Marchetti’s magnificent instinctive one-handed stop. And Bonucci was next to rue his luck ten minutes later after rattling the crossbar following Barzagli’s fine near post flick-on. Conte made just one change from last weekend’s 6-1 demolition of Pescara. Pogba replaced the suspended Pirlo at the heart of midfield, with Giovinco continuing to partner hat-trick hero Quagliarella in attack after Vucinic was struck down by flu on Friday night. The Bianconeri began with plenty of poise and aggression but had to wait until 19 minutes before carving out their first clear-cut goalscoring opportunity. After receiving the ball in an advanced position from Marchisio, Giovinco swiveled and dispatched a neat strike which forced Marchetti into a diving save. Quagliarella was quick off the mark to sweep in the rebound, but thrashed his shot into the side netting. The ‘Atomic Ant’ represented the Bianconeri’s most promising goalscoring threat throughout a lively first period and went close to finding the target on two further occasions. Having displayed a deft touch to get Isla’s cross under control, Giovinco then dragged a first-time effort marginally wide of Marchetti’s far post on the half-hour mark. Moments later, it was more of the same from the former Parma frontman, who trapped Bonucci’s raking forward pass with a sublime piece of skill before steering his attempt just wide of Marchetti’s despairing dive. Juventus cranked up the pressure after the break and went desperately close to breaking the deadlock when Vidal’s long-range shot was turned goalwards by Quagliarella, only for Marchetti to keep the hosts at bay with a miraculous one-handed save. The goalkeeper continued to frustrate the hosts minutes later, diving bravely at the feet of Marchisio to prevent the midfielder from steering Isla’s cross goalwards. With less than twenty minutes remaining, Juventus almost found that elusive breakthrough when Bonucci connected with Barzagli’s near post flick-on after timing his run to perfection. The defender, however, was left holding his head in his hands as the ball rebounded cruelly off the crossbar. The draw sees the Bianconeri extend their lead over Inter to five points, with the Nerazzurri in action against Cagliari tomorrow afternoon.

A display of attacking dominance and lethal finishing earned Juventus a 6-1 win over newly-promoted Pescara at the Stadio Adratico. The Bianconeri took no prisoners as they brushed the Delfini aside with a ruthless six-goal haul. Early goals from Vidal and Quagliarella appeared to have set Antonio Conte’s men on course for a comfortable evening in Abruzzo, only for Cascione to claw the hosts back into the affair with a strong header. But Asamoah’s bicycle kick, Giovinco’s crisp volley and a further brace from Quagliarella extinguished any hopes of a Pescara fightback to take the Bianconeri four points clear of Inter ahead of Sunday’s remaining Serie A fixtures. Antonio Conte made just one change from the Champions League win over Nordsjaelland. After staking his claim for a spot in the starting line-up with Juve’s final goal against the Danish champions, Quagliarella was named up front alongside Giovinco. Having rediscovered their goalscoring touch in Wednesday night’s 4-0 victory, Juventus tore into their opponents from the very off and went close to gaining the lead through Giovinco’s rasping left-footed strike which drew an early save from Perin. The ‘Atomic Ant’, a thorn in the hosts’ defence throughout, then turned provider, feeding Vidal with a neat pass that was stroked home by the effervescent Chilean midfielder with nine minutes played. Giovinco’s strike partner Quagliarella was next to find the back of the net, gathering Isla’s pass from the right flank before shrugging off Bocchetti’s challenge to steer the ball past Perin for a richly deserved second. But with the Bianconeri seemingly home and dry, Pescara drew on their battling qualities to force their way back into the encounter. After hitting the post moments earlier through Quintero, Cascione rose highest in the area to connect with a cross from the right-hand side and plant a well-placed header out of Buffon’s reach on 25 minutes. But Juventus were in no mood to afford the hosts an equaliser and immediately wrestled the game back in their grasp, restoring their two-goal cushion just five minutes later through Asamoah’s instinctive bicycle kick from just outside the six-yard box. With the shackles well and truly removed, the Bianconeri were ruthless in their pursuit of further goals and added to their tally when Giovinco and Quagliarella combined to perfection on the edge of the area, leaving the former Parma frontman free to guide a firmly struck volley beyond Perin. Four became five on the stroke of half-time, with Quagliarella doubling his tally courtesy of a crisp strike drilled confidently into the bottom corner. The second half saw Juventus emerge with the same drive and attacking purpose. And the aggressive approach paid immediate dividends as Quagliarella bagged his hat-trick by executing a fine acrobatic effort to turn Pirlo’s corner past a shell-shocked Perin. Angelo Alessio used the comfortable advantage as the ideal opportunity to shuffle his pack ahead of the upcoming triple-header against Lazio, Chelsea and Milan, introducing Padoin, Marrone and Bendtner to the fray in place of Isla, Chiellini and Quagliarella. The Bianconeri played out the remainder of the encounter by keeping possession and remaining alert to tentative efforts from the hosts. Banti’s whistle drew celebrations from the travelling faithful in a capacity crowd as Juventus bounced back from last Saturday's defeat to Inter in resounding fashion.

UEFA Champions League Group E Matchday 4 Juventus 4-0 Nordsjælland @ Juventus Stadium Juventus:Claudio Marchisio 6,Arturo Erasmo Vidal 23,Sebastian Giovinco 37,Fabio Quagliarella 75 Juve find winning groove against Nordsjælland(uefa.com)
Juventus 4-0 FC Nordsjælland Three first-half goals put the visitors to the sword as impressive Juve halted their record sequence of nine successive European draws in style. Juventus emphatically ended their record run of nine consecutive draws in UEFA competition, including three in Group E, by scoring four goals without reply against FC Nordsjælland. Claudio Marchisio gave the Bianconeri an early lead after a smooth team move, before Arturo Vidal and Sebastian Giovinco added two more during a breathless first half in which the Serie A pacesetters proved their class. Second-half substitute Fabio Quagliarella headed in the fourth for Juventus, who now sit third with six points, one behind FC Shakhtar Donetsk and their next opponents Chelsea FC. The hosts were dominant from the outset in Turin, going in front after six minutes. Kwadwo Asamoah started the move on the left, finding Andrea Pirlo, who immediately picked out Mauricio Isla on the opposite flank. The right-back sent in a low cross for Marchisio to thump in from close range. Marchisio could have scored another ten minutes later when he latched onto a precise pass by Vidal, but his close-range shot was well saved by the onrushing Jesper Hansen and Giovinco missed the rebound. Shortly after, Vidal fired over from a promising position following a neat Giovinco pull-back as Juventus continued to press. Vidal made amends on 23 minutes, albeit in unusual fashion. His first attempt was blocked by Kasper Lorentzen, yet as the Nordsjælland man tried to control the loose ball, the Chile midfielder slid in at his feet and squirmed the ball past Hansen at the near post. The goalkeeper was alert to deny Isla, although he could only watch as Alessandro Matri's header, from a Pirlo corner, crashed against the crossbar moments later. Hansen did not have long to wait to show his ability again, however, palming away a powerful strike by Marchisio from the edge of the box. Eight minutes before the interval, though, Juventus made it three when Giovinco collected a Pirlo pass and placed the ball inside the left upright with a wonderful angled effort. After the restart, the Danish champions' coach Kasper Hjulmand introduced Søren Christensen and Anders Christiansen in a bid to shore up a porous midfield, but Hansen was again called into action by Vidal. Instead it was another substitute, Juventus's Quagliarella, who had a major impact, nodding in from point-blank range after Matri had flicked on another Pirlo corner with 15 minutes left. Juve are now within touching distance of the top two, yet will need a similarly impressive display when they entertain holders Chelsea on 20 November.

Serie A Matchday 11 Juventus 1-3 Internazionale Milano @ Juventus Stadium Juventus:Arturo Erasmo Vidal 1 Inter:Diego Alberto Milito 59(r),75,Rodrigo Sebastián Palacio 90 Inter snatch victory in Turin(Juventus Official Website)
The Bianconeri saw their superb 49-game unbeaten run come to an end after a second-half Inter revival clinched all three points from a typically feisty ‘Derby d’Italia’. All appeared to be going to plan when Arturo Vidal grabbed the hosts the advantage inside the opening minute, but Inter emerged as a different prospect in the second period and put Juventus to the sword with a Milito double and Palacio’s 90th minute strike. With the luxury of a near fully fit squad at his disposal, Antonio Conte restored Chiellini, Lichtsteiner, Marchisio, Vidal, Asamoah, Vucinic and Giovinco to the starting line-up, with Wednesday night’s goal heroes Quagliarella and Pogba dropping down to the bench. Juventus set about their opposition at an electrifying pace and took the lead within the opening 18 seconds. After advancing forward from the left-hand side, Asamoah fizzed a cross-cum-shot across the area which left Vidal with the simple task of tapping the ball home following a trademark burst from midfield. Never content with a single goal lead, Conte’s men swarmed forward in search of further joy. Pirlo and Marchisio combined to good effect twice in quick succession, but the attacking midfielder found Handanovic equal to his volleyed attempts on both occasions. Stramaccioni’s charges – aiming for their first win on Piedmont soil since a Coppa Italia quarter-final success in January 2008 – edged themselves back into the affair as the first-half wore on, going close through long-range attempts from Cambiasso and Cassano. With the clock clicking down towards half-time, Vidal almost doubled his tally but saw Handanovic get down smartly to keep his low effort at bay. Having introduced Caceres in place of Lichtsteiner towards the end of the first period, Alessio made his second change at the start of the second half, handing Bendtner his fourth appearance in the black and white stripes at the expense of Vucinic. Despite the Bianconeri looking sharper in attack, it was a defender – Leonardo Bonucci – who produced the first noteworthy effort on goal, gliding past several opponents as he marauded forward from the back. His firmly-struck shot, however, was well saved by Handanovic. The turning point of the match came in the 58th minute, when Tagliavento adjudged Marchisio to have impeded Milito in the penalty area. The Argentine striker dusted himself down to blast an unstoppable penalty past Buffon’s despairing dive. Stramaccioni’s reaction to the equaliser was to firm up the Nerazzurri midfield, sacrificing Cassano for Guarin. And the Rome-born tactician saw his change pay off when Guarin was played in on the counter and stung Buffon’s fingertips with a strong effort across goal, leaving Milito with a straightforward finish from ten yards out. Alessio’s response was instant, sending on Quagliarella in place of Caceres to increase the Bianconeri’s attacking potency. Bendtner went close to getting the hosts back on level terms when his chip from an acute angle almost caught Handanovic off guard, while Quagliarella’s rasping left-footed shot from distance was a whisker away from hitting the target. But with Juventus throwing everything at the Nerazzurri, Palacio dealt Conte’s men a sucker punch with a classic goal on the counter to take all three points back to the San Siro.

Serie A Matchday 10 Juventus 2-1 Bologna @ Juventus Stadium Juventus:Fabio Quagliarella 55,Paul Pogba 90+2 Bologna:Saphir Taïder 71 Pogba conjures up more last-gasp magic(Juventus Official Website)
Paul Pogba popped up with another sensational late winner to snatch all three points from a hard-fought encounter against Serie A strugglers Bologna. After toiling to create clear cut chances throughout a fractious first half, the Bianconeri found a way through ten minutes into the restart when Quagliarella capped off a flowing move by tapping home from close range. Taider threatened to scupper the hosts' chances of emerging victorious when he drilled a crisp finish past Buffon from outside the area on 71 minutes. But Pogba followed up his exploits against Napoli by finding the target in the dying stages to send the Bianconeri faithful home happy. For the visit of the Rossoblu, Conte opted to make five changes from Sunday’s 1-0 win in Catania. Caceres came in for Chiellini at the back, Isla replaced Lichtsteiner on the right flank, Giaccherini deputised for the suspended Vidal and Asamoah was rested in favour of De Ceglie. In attack, Bendtner kept his place following an impressive showing in Sicily, with Quagliarella given the nod as his strike partner. Juventus started well but were forced to wait until the 15th minute before fashioning their first attempt on goal. Pogba, making his second start in the space of four days, gained space outside the area and was unfortunate to see his left-footed curling shot bounce back off the woodwork. Quagliarella then tried his luck on goal with a low drive which was saved by Agliardi, before Bendtner stung the goalkeeper’s fingertips with a rasping strike from 35 yards. The best chance of the first half fell to Pogba just minutes before the break. Pirlo’s inviting delivery picked out the midfielder at the back post, but he planted his header just wide of goal. It seemed a moment of magic was required to unlock Bologna’s resilient rearguard, and the fans were treated to just that when Giaccherini headed Pogba’s sublime pass into the path of Quagliarella, who made no mistake with a tap-in on 55 minutes. The deficit appeared to spark Bologna into life, with the visitors abandoning their defensive tactics in favour of a more positive approach. And their increased purpose was rewarded when Taider picked up a stray ball to lash an unstoppable drive past Buffon with 71 minutes played. It looked like being another one of those nights for Juventus who fought valiantly from start to finish but often lacked the required precision in the final third to breach a well-marshalled backline. But the hosts – bolstered by the introductions of Giovinco, Asamoah and Vucinic – continued to knock on the door and reaped the rewards with Pogba’s last-gasp header. The win is the Bianconeri’s first home success over the Rossoblu in three years and takes Conte’s men four points clear at the summit of Serie A.

Serie A Matchday 9 Catania 0-1 Juventus @ Angelo Massimino Juventus:Arturo Erasmo Vidal 57 Vidal strike seals win in Catania(Juventus Official Website)
Arturo Vidal’s third championship goal of the season settled a tight encounter in Catania and extended the Bianconeri’s lead at the top of Serie A to six points. With the game evenly poised following an entertaining first half, the Chilean pounced to sweep home on 57 minutes after Bendtner’s initial effort was parried by Andujar. Conte made three changes from last Saturday’s 2-0 win over Napoli. Pogba stepped into midfield in place of the injured Marchisio, while Bendtner and Vucinic came in for Quagliarella and Giovinco in attack. Despite Catania’s aggressive start to proceedings, Juventus immediately wrestled the opening exchanges back in their favour and began to command possession in the centre of midfield. Vidal had the first meaningful attempt on target with two minutes played, stinging the fingers of Andujar with a rasping effort from distance. Bendtner, starting for the first time since completing a deadline day loan switch from Arsenal, looked lively up front and went close to capping off a neat move by steering Lichtsteiner’s low centre home from close range. Andujar, however, was alert to the danger, diving bravely to smother at the Dane’s feet to smother. The Etnei reacted by raising their game and asking a few questions of the Juventus defence. Chiellini did well to prevent Almiron’s searching pass from reaching Bergessio, while Barzagli was on hand at the back post to turn Gomez’s cross away from the lurking Barrientos. The turning point of the game arrived midway through the first half. With Bergessio wheeling away in celebration after tapping Lodi’s free-kick past Buffon, Gervasoni moved over to his assistant and, after a period of brief discussion, opted to rule the goal out for offside. Juventus continued to press forward and Pogba, gaining increasing space in midfield, almost followed up his wonder goal against Napoli with a thunderous attempt that whistled over Andujar’s crossbar. As the seconds ticked down towards the interval, Catania had Andujar to thank for keeping the scores level, with the goalkeeper pulling off a miraculous save to keep Vucinic’s close-range effort from crossing the line after the striker was fed by Bendtner’s knock down. An unchanged Bianconeri emerged for the second half and cranked up the pressure on the hosts’ backline. Their persistence was rewarded 12 minutes inside the restart when Vidal tapped in from five yards out after Andujar had parried Bendtner’s initial attempt. The goal breathed new life into the Chilean, who almost doubled his tally moments later, but dragged his effort wide of target after some fine individual work on the edge of the area. The encounter tipped further in the Bianconeri’s balance when Marchese, already on a yellow card, was subsequently given his marching orders for deliberate handball midway through the second half. With fresh legs required to capitalise on any potential breaks on the counter, Giovinco was introduced in place of Vucinic. However, it was an inspired Vidal who almost made the points safe, only to see his low drive from the edge of the area turned around the post by man-of-the-match Andujar. Giovinco went close in the dying stages, beating several opponents with a forward burst from deep, but failed to find the finish his good work merited. CATANIA 0-1 JUVENTUS GOAL: Vidal 57 CATANIA Andujar; Rolin, Legrottaglie, Spolli; Izco, Lodi, Almiron (Biagianti 78), Barrientos (Castro 69), Marchese; Gomez (Morimoto 81), Bergessio Substitutes not used: Frison, Messina, Potenza, Alvarez, Salifu, Capuano, Ricchiuti, Doukara.

UEFA Champions League Group E Matchday 3 Nordsjælland 1-1 Juventus @ Parken Nordsjælland:Mikkel Beckmann 50 Juventus:Mirko Vučinić 81 Vučinić rescues Juventus at Nordsjælland(uefa.com)
FC Nordsjælland 1-1 Juventus The Danish champions looked on course for their first ever group stage win but were denied nine minutes from time by Mirko Vučinić's volley. FC Nordsjælland were denied a first UEFA Champions League group stage victory as Mirko Vučinić came off the bench to earn Juventus a point. Mikkel Beckmann had put the hosts in front five minutes after half-time – their first goal in the competition – and the two-time European champions struggled thereafter to find a way past goalkeeper Jesper Hansen. Vučinić, though, ensured the Serie A leaders claimed a third successive Group E draw when he applied a sweet finish nine minutes from the end. That late excitement was out of keeping with the start of a game that took time to get going. Both teams were tentative, mixing lax mistakes with more positive midfield work. With Vučinić beginning among the replacements after a bout of flu, the attacking partnership of Alessandro Matri and Sebastian Giovinco showed flickers of promise. Juventus set pieces proved to be another source of danger and Leonardo Bonucci was not too far wide with his headed effort. When Nordsjælland started to make progress, Gianluigi Buffon leant heavily on his experience to keep them at bay, palming away a fizzing drive from Kasper Lorentzen. Joshua John, all alone behind the defence, had the goal at his mercy but Buffon, outside his area, showed all his qualities by blocking the attempted chip with his chest. The match had acquired a good tempo and more goalscoring opportunities arrived as a result. The half ended with Giovinco belying his small stature to pose a big threat to the Danish champions' hopes of putting their first points on the board, finding the side netting after a typically dynamic surge. Andreas Laudrup, son of Michael, a player of some distinction for Juve in the 1980s, acquitted himself well on his first start in the UEFA Champions League. Fittingly, it was he who won the free-kick that led to Nordsjælland's historic goal. Beckmann's execution was sublime as it curled around the wall and beyond Buffon's left hand. Hansen saved brilliantly from a Giovinco header and then a Pirlo set piece, yet he had no answer to Vučinić's volley. A winning goal from Danish international Nicklas Bendtner would have added insult to injury but the Juve substitute was off target with a late header.

Serie A Matchday 8 Juventus 2-0 Napoli @ Juventus Stadium Juventus:José Martín Cáceres 80,Paul Pogba 82 Super subs send Juve clear at the top(Juventus Official Website)
Late goals from substitutes Martin Caceres and Paul Pogba sent the Bianconeri three points clear of Scudetto rivals Napoli on a pulsating evening of Serie A action at Juventus Stadium. Within minutes of coming off the bench, Caceres broke free of his marker to power a header past De Sanctis and gain the advantage the hosts had been craving. And moments later the points were made safe when French starlet Pogba – a summer capture from Manchester United – announced his arrival in style by slamming home a sumptuous long-range volley. The meeting of the league’s meanest defences was always destined to produce a cagey affair, and the first half kept to the script as both sides struggled to break free of a congested midfield area. That said, Juventus started brightly and could have taken the lead inside the opening exchanges. September’s player of the month Giovinco was the first to try his luck with just two minutes on the clock, wriggling into space and rifling in a low strike which travelled through a crowd of players before being parried clear by De Sanctis. Vidal then sent an ambitious strike over the bar, and Giovinco almost stole in to prod the ball home amid a moment of hesitation between Campagnaro and De Sanctis. But Napoli, in search of revenge following August’s 4-2 Super Cup defeat, possess plenty of dangerous players in their ranks and went the closest of the two sides to breaking the deadlock in a combative first half. With 26 minutes played, Uruguayan frontman Cavani almost added to his tally of six goals with a curling free-kick that cannoned back off the upright. The second half brought more of the same. Juventus increasingly looked to impose their attractive style of football but were prevented from doing so by frequent stoppages in play and dogged Partenopei resistance. Further chances, however, continued to fall their way. Pirlo’s deflected free-kick was gathered by De Sanctis, while Giovinco thrashed wide after working himself into a good position. Alessio opted to introduce fresh legs at varying stages of the second half. Matri replaced Quagliarella in attack, Caceres came on for Asamoah down the left-hand side, while Pogba represented a like for like swap for Vidal in the centre of midfield. The substitutes’ impact was instant. With ten minutes remaining, Caceres stole a yard on his marker to meet Pirlo’s corner with a thumping header. And just two minutes later, Pogba displayed just why he is regarded as one of the world’s most promising midfielders by lashing an unforgettable strike past De Sanctis from distance. The two sucker punches were enough to stave off any further threat from a shell-shocked Napoli, enabling Juventus to put daylight between themselves and the Partenopei at the top of Serie A.
