Serie A Matchday 38 Sampdoria 3-2 Juventus @ Stadio Luigi Ferraris Sampdoria:Éder 31(r),Lorenzo De Silvestri 57,Mauro Icardi 75 Juventus:Fabio Quagliarella 25,Emanuele Giaccherini 90 Juve bow out with 87 points(Juventus Official Website)
Two second-half goals against the run of play saw the Bianconeri end their 2012/13 Serie A campaign with a 3-2 defeat against Sampdoria. Having gone in front through Fabio Quagliarella’s 13th strike of the term on 25 minutes, Antonio Conte’s men appeared to be on course for a winning conclusion to the season. But Eder’s debatable penalty reopened the contest, before breakaway goals from Di Silvestri and Icardi condemned Juventus to this year’s second reverse at the hands of the Blucerchiati. The visitors, featuring five changes from last Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Cagliari, displayed heavy pressing from the first whistle, finding particular joy through the energetic bursts of Mauricio Isla and Paolo De Ceglie down the flanks. The returning Fabio Quagliarella was the first to test Sampdoria’s Júnior da Costa, forcing the goalkeeper to beat his fierce right-footed shot from the edge of the area to safety with ten minutes played. The Brazilian shotstopper was heavily involved throughout the first half as the Bianconeri upped the ante in search of an opener, denying Emanuele Giaccherini twice in quick succession before showing sharp reactions to block Giorgio Chiellini’s deflected strike with his feet. With Conte cutting an animated presence as he urged Juventus forward from the touchline, it appeared only a matter of time before his men found the breakthrough their pressure merited. This duly arrived when Andrea Pirlo’s pinpoint pass from deep found the feet of Quagliarella, who showed exceptional control before guiding a carefully placed right-footed strike past the despairing dive of Da Costa with 25 minutes played. The opener appeared to spark Sampdoria into life, and a seemingly innocuous tussle in the area between Mauro Icardi and Chiellini provided them with the ideal opportunity to restore parity moments later from the spot. Former Sampdoria stopper Marco Storari guessed correctly and threw himself down to the right, but was unable to keep Eder’s perfectly placed penalty from nestling in the bottom corner. Juventus refused to let the setback throw them off course and could have regained the lead when Quagliarella fired towards goal from inside the area on 38 minutes, only for Shkodran Mustafi to produce an excellent last-ditch block to send his team into the break on level pegging. A lively start to the second half produced a flurry of chances for the visitors to seize the advantage. Quagliarella continued to cause plenty of problems for his former employers, going close with two attempts in as many minutes, while a flowing move involving Giaccherini, Sebastian Giovinco and Simone Padoin resulted in the latter seeing his low effort well thwarted by Da Costa’s strong left arm. But the Blucerchiati, who caught the Bianconeri cold with a surprise 2-1 victory at Juventus Stadium in January, snatched the lead when Lorenzo De Silvestri rose highest at the near post to plant an inswinging corner past Storari on 57 minutes. Determined to prevent history repeating itself, Juventus committed further bodies forward and Quagliarella drew another fine save from Da Costa after connecting well with Giovinco’s inviting cross from the left-hand side. In a bid to inject some fresh attacking impetus, Conte introduced Stephan Lichtsteiner and Nicklas Bendtner in place of Padoin and Giovinco. But the substitutes barely had time to take their first touch before Storari was picking the ball out of his net for a third time on 75 minutes. A clinical counter attacking move saw the ball worked to Marcelo Estigarribia on the right-flank, who squared across the face of goal to present Icardi with a straightforward tap-in. An unfortunate night then took a turn for the worse as Juventus were forced to play out the final stages with ten men after Bendtner fell awkwardly in the penalty area. But Conte’s troops refused to throw in the towel and gave themselves hope of completing a remarkable comeback when Giaccherini sent an unstoppable shot into the top corner on the stroke of 90 minutes. Andrea Gervasoni’s final whistle means the Bianconeri, who were given a tremendous farewell by their travelling faithful, end a triumphant season on 87 points.

Serie A Matchday 37 Juventus 1-1 Cagliari @ Juventus Stadiuam Juventus:Mirko Vučinić 61 Cagliari:Segundo Víctor Ibarbo 12 Thanks lads!(Juventus Official Website)
Bianconeri supporters were treated to a night to remember as the team capped off another magnificent campaign by lifting their second consecutive Scudetto trophy in front of an adoring public at Juventus Stadium. The scenes of jubilation began after this evening’s 1-1 draw with Cagliari, in which Mirko Vucinic came off the bench to grab his tenth Serie A goal of the season and secure Juventus a share of the spoils. Trailing to Victor Ibarbo’s early first-half opener, Antonio Conte’s men improved considerably after the break but only had Vucinic’s equaliser to show for their attempts to round off this season’s home campaign on a winning note. The hosts, featuring five changes from the starting line-up that ground out Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over Atalanta in Bergamo, made most of the early running in a confident start to affairs at Juventus Stadium. One of the returning contingent, Arturo Vidal, brought the game to life on 10 minutes with a curling left-footed 25-yard strike that was plucked out of the top corner by Michael Agazzi at full stretch. But Cagliari – who had guaranteed a safe mid-table finish courtesy of a productive run since the turn of the New Year - proved they weren’t just in Turin to make up the numbers when Victor Ibarbo wriggled between the challenges of Andrea Barzagli and Claudio Marchisio before squeezing a shot past Marco Storari with 12 minutes on the clock. Juventus grew in stature as the half wore on and fashioned a number of chances to level matters ahead of the interval. With 32 minutes played, Emanuele Giaccherini teed up Claudio Marchisio on the edge of the area, but Agazzi remained equal to the latter’s low drive with a straightforward stop. Moments later, Sebastian Giovinco was left with his head in his hands after seeing his superbly struck 25-yard free-kick bounce agonisingly back off the woodwork. And ex-Cagliari frontman Alessandro Matri, who struck a quick-fire double in this season’s reverse fixture, again sought to haunt his former employers, only to clear the crossbar with a speculative effort from range. The hosts came out all guns blazing at the start of the second half and could have restored parity when Giaccherini weaved in and out of his marker before drawing a low save from Agazzi at his near post. Eight minutes later, Juventus were level. Vidal headed Marchisio’s cross back across the face of goal, leaving substitute Vucinic with the straightforward task of prodding the ball across the line for his tenth Serie A strike of the campaign. With the fans in full voice and celebratory Scudetto flags waving high into the night’s sky, the hosts continued to push down on the accelerator and Marchisio, a lively presence throughout, went close to diverting Mauricio Isla’s teasing delivery past the despairing dive of Agazzi on 68 minutes. The Chilean full-back, making his second consecutive appearance in the starting line-up, was next to try his luck on 78 minutes, unleashing a thunderous effort which fizzed narrowly over the woodwork. The closing stages of the encounter saw Juventus throw bodies forward in an attempt to force a winner, only for Cagliari to defend resolutely and hold on for a point. The 1-1 draw brings an end to the Bianconeri’s nine-game winning streak and subsequently the team’s chances of surpassing Fabio Capello’s points record. But today’s result came secondary to the sight everyone came to witness – captain Gigi Buffon lifting the Scudetto trophy to spark scenes of unconfined joy at Juventus Stadium.

Serie A Matchday 36 Atalanta 0-1 Juventus @ Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia Juventus:Alessandro Matri 18 Nine in a row in Bergamo(Juventus Official Website)
Juventus made it nine Serie A victories on the trot with this evening’s 1-0 away triumph over Atalanta at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia. Alessandro Matri’s sensational first-half goal proved the difference between the two sides on a night when Antonio Conte took the opportunity to cast his eye over those who have featured less throughout the 2012/13 campaign. As hinted by first-team coach Massimo Carrera in yesterday’s pre-match press conference, Juve’s manager made wholesale changes for the trip to Bergamo, deploying as many as nine new faces from last Sunday’s title-winning success over Palermo at Juventus Stadium. The full-scale rotation, however, failed to alter the Bianconeri’s traditional approach to proceedings, with Emanuele Giaccherini, who hit the target the last time the teams met in Bergamo, spinning neatly away from his marker before drilling the ball into the arms of Andrea Consigli on three minutes. With Juventus edging further into proceedings as the first half wore on, a superb piece of combination play between Andrea Pirlo and Matri enabled them to break the deadlock on 18 minutes. The midfield wizard’s raking forward pass was controlled to perfection by Matri, who maintained his composure to guide a left-footed shot beyond the grasp of Consigli. Stung by the Bianconeri’s advantage, Atalanta went in search of an equaliser and almost produced an instant response when top scorer German Denis unleashed a fierce strike which flashed just wide of Marco Storari’s left-hand post. The first half was marred by clashes between opposing supporters, forcing referee Marco Guida to bring a halt to proceedings while players and coaches from both sides sought to calm the trouble in the stands. With order restored at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia, the Nerazzurri continued to place Conte’s men on the back foot and could have levelled matters when Denis crashed a fierce effort off the upright on 38 minutes. An end-to-end second period got underway with Pirlo’s free-kick crashing back off the wall on 51 minutes, before Giacomo Bonaventura’s low drive from the edge of the area drew a straightforward save from Storari moments later. Bonaventura resumed his personal duel with the Bianconeri shotstopper on 58 minutes, only to see his well-struck effort fisted away to safety. The midway point of the second half provided the occasion for Conte to freshen up his attacking options, introducing Nicolas Anelka and Arturo Vidal to the action in place of Fabio Quagliarella and former Atalanta man Simone Padoin. And the Chilean midfielder almost made an instant impact after a finding himself in a one-on-one situation with Consigli following a rapid Bianconeri break on the counter. The goalkeeper, however, got down well to prevent the visitors from tightening their grip on the three points. The final minute saw Anelka’s purposeful break from deep fashion an opportunity for Giaccherini to put the result beyond doubt, only for the midfielder to slice his attempt into the side netting. The result takes Juventus one step closer to surpassing Fabio Capello’s seasonal points record of 91, with wins required in the remaining fixtures against Cagliari and Sampdoria to round off a magnificent campaign in style.

Serie A Matchday 35 Juventus 1-0 Palermo @ Juventus Stadium Juventus:Arturo Erasmo Vidal 59(r) Juventus clinch Scudetto number 31!(Juventus Official Website)
Juventus crowned an extraordinary 2012/13 campaign by clinching their 31st Scudetto with this afternoon’s 1-0 victory over Palermo in front of a jubilant capacity crowd at Juventus Stadium. A combination of stubborn defending and Stefano Sorrentino’s heroics in the visitors’ goal meant Antonio Conte’s men were forced to wait until the hour-mark before open the scoring, with Arturo Vidal’s well-taken penalty sparking rapturous celebrations among the Bianconeri faithful. The final whistle brought scenes of delirium on the faces of those in the black and white stripes, whose dedication and commitment throughout a thrilling season has enabled them to see off nearest challengers Napoli and overcome the final hurdle with three games to spare. Juventus, who fielded the same starting line-up for the fifth game in succession, did most of the running in the early stages, with Andrea Pirlo enjoying plenty of room to pull the strings in midfield and Kwadwo Asamoah drawing the crowd’s appreciation with some penetrating runs in behind opposite number Tomar Nelson. But for all the crisp passing and intelligent football on display, it was often the final ball that eluded the hosts as Palermo, battling to preserve their top-flight status, defended deep and with due discipline. Vidal, presented with April’s player of the month award shortly before kick-off, had a chance to open the scoring when the ball broke in his favour on the edge of the box with 15 minutes played, only for the Chilean midfielder to drag his half-volleyed attempt wide of target. Pirlo was next to go in search of the opener, shrugging off the attentions of Jasmin Jurtic with a neat turn outside the area before firing in a left-footed strike which passed over the crossbar on 22 minutes. The Bianconeri, by now firmly entrenched inside the opposition’s final third, produced their most promising chance of the half when Mirko Vucinic latched on to Stephan Lichtsteiner’s slide-rule delivery into the box just shy of the half-hour mark. The Montenegrin held off the challenge of Massimo Donati but found Rosanero custodian Stefano Sorrentino equal to his low drive from a narrow angle. Despite maintaining their grip on proceedings at the start of the second period, Conte’s men were almost caught cold when Fabrizio Miccoli’s shot clipped off Giorgio Chiellini and bounced back off the post with Gigi Buffon beaten. But with normal service resumed and the Bianconeri looking increasingly threatening, Donati’s nudge on Vucinic in the penalty area presented Vidal with the opportunity to break the deadlock from 12 yards. The Chilean seized the moment with both hands, sending Sorrentino the wrong way to take his personal tally to five goals in the last four outings. Buoyed by shattering Palermo’s resistance, Juventus continued to stream forward and only the heroics of Sorrentino prevented Vidal’s well-struck effort from extending the lead on 68 minutes. Sensing the moment of celebration had arrived, supporters inside a rapturous Juventus Stadium began to hold their flags and banners aloft in tribute to the extraordinary achievements of Conte’s men. And the volume inside a deafening arena was almost raised a notch when substitute Fabio Quagliarella crashed a venomous effort off the crossbar with ten minutes remaining. Andrea Romeo’s final whistle saw the newly-crowned Champions of Italy congratulate each other as a flag depicting “31” was unfurled around the centre circle to get the party started in style… JUVENTUS 1-0 PALERMO GOALS: Vidal (pen) 59 JUVENTUS Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Lichtsteiner (Padoin 56), Pogba, Pirlo, Vidal, Asamoah (Peluso 66); Marchisio; Vucinic (Quagliarella 79).
