Former Internazionale boss Rafael Benitez is reportedly lined up to replace under-fire coach Luigi Del Neri, should Juventus relieve him of his duties.

Benitez had hinted a return to Liverpool, where he had an eight-year spell before leaving for the Italian giants in the summer of 2010, but Kenny Dalglish’s revival of the Reds and a potential long-term stay with first team could well diminish his hopes.

The Spaniard had a hard time at San Siro as tension with the owners and - more importantly - a series of poor Serie A results triggered his sacking.

According to The Mirror, Benitez is searching for a new club to manage and is potentially likely to join La Vecchia Signora, as he was linked with a move to Juventus last May before Del Neri was appointed manager.

Juventus would relish the opportunity to hire Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho but the former Chelsea manager has expressed his wished to return to the Premier League, rather than Serie A, should his adventure in Spain come to an end.

He has said he’ would love to return to Anfield but the success of Kenny Dalglish as has blocked any chance of that happening.

The once mighty Juventus are enduring a miserable time. Five defeats in their last eight games have piled pressure on coach Luigi Del Neri.

Jose Mourinho has been named by some Juve insiders as their dream appointment. But the Real Madrid coach has indicated that he will head back to England next.

Benitez was involved in talks with Juve last May but they opted for Del Neri. The Spaniard’s availability now makes him an attractive prospect if Juventus ditch their under-fire coach.

実際、ユベントスはチーロ・フェラーラを解任したときにベニテス招聘に動き、デル・ネーリの前にも接触していたが、ベニテスから断りを入れている。という事情を考えれば虫のいい話ではないか。インテルで失敗したことを考えればユベントスでうまくいくとは思えない。

ユベントスはレアル・マドリーの指揮を執っているジョゼ・モウリーニョの招聘に動いているが、彼はプレミアへの復帰を望んでおり、望み薄と見られている。
