Juventus striker Alessandro Del Piero has maintained that he expects to sign a new deal with the Turin giants.

The 36-year-old's current contract expires at the end of this season, but a new deal has not been forthcoming despite his legendary status with the club.

"President Andrea Agnelli and I have already met a couple times since the beginning of the year," read a statement from the player on the club's official website.

"On those occasions, the club confirmed their desire to maintain the professional and respectful relationship that has characterised all the years I’ve spent with the Bianconero.

"Therefore, I'm confident of a positive outcome from these talks."

Del Piero, who joined Juve as an 18-year-old in 1993 from Padova, holds the record for the most appearances and goals scored for the Old Lady.
