Ferrara: «Ready to react»(Juventus Official Website)
On the eve of the match against Bari, Ciro Ferrara showed the road to follow in order to get back on track after the elimination from the Champions League: «Persons who are strong and intelligent must react and we will do so. We need to go ahead and withstand the criticism, even the cruelest». With regards to the criticism received, especially that addressed to him, Ferrara was asked about the defence he received from the management: «I had no doubts the management would defend me. I said so even in other difficult moments. I feel there esteem and the appreciation for my work. I am a coach in his first experience, who needs to improve. I know there is not much time for this and therefore I have to hurry up».
The defeat against Bayern has already been analyzed thoroughly, but Ferrara spoke about it: «We take all responsibility for not having done what we could have. Nobody was scared of that match but we know that we can improve as a team ». About the Europa League? «It is still far. We must now think of these two matches».
With regards to tomorrow’s match, Ferrara saw positive signs from the team («I saw the will to react in them. They know the moment and there is little to say») and this is important to face an opponent like Bari, who «do not have great names but a good style of play – stated Ferrara who continued saying -. They are a team which is agile, good at defending but even at attacking because they have very fast forwards. Notwithstanding the absence of two important players like Ranocchia and Parisi they must not be underestimated, also because when these teams play against Juventus the motivation is high. The environment will be warm, the stadium full but if we have the same type of humility and we play with intensity we can do well».
Admitting that there are a series of things that must be improved, amongst which is the attention when it comes to set pieces to avoid goals like the ones conceded recently, Ferrara confirmed the formation and praised Buffon: «He chose to postpone the operation to be able to be close to the team in this difficult moment and this is yet another show of how important he is to us».
Ferrara ended the conference by giving a straight answer to those who asked him whether he had considered quitting after the defeat against Bayern: «I never thought of this and am not even thinking of it».
