Ferrara: «Grit and attention»(Juventus Official Website)
«We hang on to our Buffon». Ciro Ferrara opens the press conference this way, answering to an Israeli journalist underlining the importance of Gigi’s performances on this season start. Vs. Maccabi the team will have to let the goalkeeper very little engaged, because victory is fundamental, not only to redeem Saturday defeat, but to take an important step toward qualification: «Any match puts us in front of different situations – Ferrara continues – and we saw that during the last two matches. Vs. Maccabi there must be no anger to recuperate the result vs. Napoli, but the right tension and the right attention to continue our Champions course».
They ask him how he’s facing this period, knowing, as Blanc said, he does not have “wildcards to play” anymore: «With the same serenity and the same attention I had even before season started. I know well our targets and our potentialities and I’ll do my best to pull them out together with the boys. Nothing’s changed from the beginning, concerning the pressure I feel».
Ferrara wants a reaction from his guys anyway: «We must find continuity in performance and in attention also within the same match. To be at our best like vs. Samp we need great concentration by everyone. Mistakes can be made, but we must try to go wrong as less as possible».
As it often happens when results are fluctuating, you always ends up talking about absent and an Israeli journalists bring even in Pavel Nedved: «Pavel is and always will be one of best players in Juventus history, but he took this decision and we must respect it. Juve bought good players and we hope they will be able to contribute making the team great, as Pavel did.
Alessandro unfortunately is having problems since season beginning and we had some problems too, concerning injured players. I hope I’ll have him back in good conditions as soon as possible and hope he will give us a hand as he always did ». Finally, answering to a specific question on which he hopes tomorrow match’s result will be, Ferrara is very clear and synthetic:
«I’d sign for victory only»
