Andrea Barzagli and Giorgio Chiellini suffered from muscle strain on Saturday evening during the game against Chievo. Today, their conditions were assessed: both players underwent ultrasound scans at the ‘Istituto di Medicina dello Sport’.

Barzagli suffered from a strain at the Gastrocnemius muscle of his right calf.
He’ll be back to action in 20 days.

Chiellini instead sustained an inflammatory elongation at the soleus muscle of his left calf. Giorgio will need ten days to be available again.

Tomorrow, both players will start the required therapies agreed by the medical staff.

Juventus stalwart Giorgio Chiellini is willing to play wherever Antonio Conte needs him in defence and says the team must be ready to learn from its mistakes.

Speaking to journalists after a visits to students in a Turin classroom, Chiellini says it would be satisfying for Juve to enter the winter break leading Serie A: “To end the year unbeaten and first in the table would be hugely satisfying, also because there’s not long to go and it would be a shame to spoil what we’ve done up until now.”

Vidal and Leonardo Bonucci have reached the yellow card limit and will miss the Piedmont derby against Novara on Sunday, which means Chiellini may move back to a central position, allowing Paolo De Ceglie to start to left-back.

“I’m ready, but it’s down to the coach. For me there’s no problem. I’ve played at full-back for a few games now, but you don’t forget what you’ve done over the last four years in the space of a month.”

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini believes he may not be fit in time for the Bianconeri's clash against Roma this weekend after picking up a quadriceps strain playing for Italy against Ukraine on Tuesday evening.

The 26-year-old had to be substituted after only 17 minutes in Kiev, holding his leg as he hobbled off the pitch, being replaced by Davide Astori.

"I don't think I will be able to play on Sunday," a deluded Chiellini told ANSA after the match.

Chiellini is expected to be out of action for up to 10 days.

Juventus currently sit in seventh place on 45 points, five points behind the Giallorossi.

With Juve unlikely to qualify for the Champions League this season the club are planning a summer shopping spree, according to reports from Italy.

The Bianconeri plan to add a number of arrivals in the summer and might have to offload Buffon or Chiellini to fund their ambitious plan, claims Corriere dello Sport.

The first arrival is likely to be Lyon's Michel Bastos, who would operate on the opposite flank to the impressive Milos Krasic to form a dynamic partnership.

The Old Lady are also being heavily linked with the Udinese's Chilean star Alexis Sanchez, Villarreal top scorer Giuseppe Rossi, Santos starlet Neymar and Jeremy Menez who has established himself as one of the most sought-after wingers in European football.

Sampdoria's Andrea Poli is also being touted as a future Juventus player, although any transfer will surely be dependant on the departure of either 'keeper Buffon or star centre-half Chiellini.

If Buffon is sold it appears Arsenal and Roma would be favourites to land the experienced Italian number one, although Manchester United and Manchester City are thought to have also expressed an interest in the 33-year-old.

Interest in Chiellini is also fierce, although Manchester United are believed to be in pole position for the no nonsense defender.

However, the Red Devils will only come in for Chiellini if Real Madrid makes an official approach for Nemanja Vidic, with the Premier League Champions wanting a capable replacement for the Serbian.

Juventus have agreed to hand Giorgio Chiellini a five-year deal, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 26-year-old has been in line for a new deal for quite some time, but that was pushed into the background following an active transfer campaign by the club.

Previous reports had suggested a disagreement over wages, with Chiellini demanding the same recognition as some of the club's top earners.

Chiellini is currently on €2million per annum, but that is set to double once he signs his five-year extension.

Claudio Marchisio is next in line for new terms. The midfielder though is distant over reaching an agreement.

He wants €3m per annum, but the club are not prepared to offer that amount.

Italian international Giorgio Chiellini has recently been linked with Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid and with German champions Bayern Munich, but the strong defender is not interested in leaving Juventus, according to his agent.

Chiellini joined Juventus in the summer of 2005 and has since developed into an absolute key player at the Vechia Signora. He has made well over 100 league appearances for Juventus so far. Additionally, he has been capped at senior level for Italy.

He reportedly earns much less than the team's other top stars, but Juventus are in no hurry to offer Chiellini a new deal. Therefore, the highly rated centre back was thought to be considering a move away from the club. The player's agent has now downplayed any such rumours.

"We are quite happy about the interest of big clubs such as Real Madrid or perhaps Bayern Munich. However, Giorgio doesn't want to leave Juventus and is going nowhere for now,” said Davide Lippi to Tuttosport.

Juventus are on the verge of landing Milos Krasic from CSKA Moscow after Giuseppe Marotta received the green light from the Russian side.

Tuttosport reports that CSKA have agreed to sell Krasic to the Italians after they were impressed with their offer. Juventus have not confirmed the deal officially as it is still in transition.

Once Krasic signs for the club, they will also work to renew Giorgio Chiellini's deal. The defender will be offered a two-year extension on his current 2013 deal, taking him to 2015. His wages will also rise to €3.5million per annum, claims La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The reinforcements don't cease there though. Juventus are also expected to make a move for Fiorentina captain Riccardo Montolivo who is admired by the club's president Andrea Agnelli.

カピターノがマルキジオ、最終ラインも中盤の主力も２０代という若返りを目指すユベントスは、新たな血を導入することで再生を図る。この中に、ジョビンコやデ・チェリエが残ってくれることを切に願う。

Juventus earned a 1-0 win over Cagliari in Serie A to stay involved in the hunt for European places. Defender Giorgio Chiellini scored the decisive goal in the first-half in a tight encounter with few chances.

Gianluigi Buffon made is long-awaited return to the line-up, along with centre-back Chiellini as both got the nod from the start. There were a few less options in midfield, as Diego was injured and Mohamed Sissoko suspended.

Cagliari coach Massimiliano Allegri had a near full lineup available.

The first 10 minutes were devoid of chances for either side, but Cagliari took the initiative as a half-clearance by Fabio Cannavaro landed at the feet of Andrea Cossu, who struck the ball with the outside of his foot and hit the crossbar.

La Vecchia Signora were finding it difficult to create, but it was Mauro Camoranesi who looked the liveliest of the Juve midfield when his left foot strike forced Federico Marchetti to tip over the bar.

Cossu sent Alessandro Matri through on goal, but Buffon did well to cut down the angle and Cannavaro rushed back to make a fine clearance.

Cagliari would be made to rue missed chances on 36 minutes. Chiellini had stayed forward following a freekick and a long-ball was sent back in the area and flicked on by Amauri for the defender to head over the goalkeeper and into the net.

Juventus began to grow in confidence and after some intricate play Claudio Marchisio's curling effort flew over the bar from the edge of area as the half came to a close.

The second-half started with Buffon showing quick reactions to leap off his line and claim the ball before Nene could pounce.

Somehow Nene failed to equalise from less than six yards on the hour mark. After a perfect cross by Alessandro Agostini, the Brazilian did not make proper contact and the ball slid wide to the relief of the home fans.

Substitute Andrea Lazzari had an immediate effect. The playmaker stole the ball in midfield and sparked a counter, but Matri's header was off target.

Camoranesi slipped past two defenders and played a perfect defence-splitting pass for Iaquinta, but his control was once again lacking on a lacklustre afternoon for the striker.

Juventus had a goal disallowed with 20 minutes remaining. A corner was mishandled by Marchetti and Chiellini directed the ball towards goal, but Iaquinta finished the move while in a clear offside position. That was his last action of the match as he was replaced by Sebastian Giovinco.

A chipped ball into the area from a set-piece found the unmarked Biondini, but the angle was too tight for the midfielder to shoot on target and the chance went begging.

In the final stages, Giovinco had the chance to extend Juve's lead, but was foiled by Marchetti.

The result means Juventus leap ahead of Napoli in the table and their Champions League aspirations remain intact.

Kaka could be used as bait by Real Madrid so they can land Diego and Giorgio Chiellini in return for the Brazilian ace, according to Sportmediaset.it.

A return to Italy is the idea being floated around in Spain. Kaka joined Real from Milan last year in a €65 million deal. But new reports claiming he suffers from a recurring hernia injury that needs treatment every day will see him go.

As part of that move Kaka will be offered to Juventus, with both Chiellini and Diego heading to Madrid in a straight swap deal.

It seems unlikely though, as Juventus are looking to build for the future, and see both players as long-term features. Furthermore, Kaka wouldn't fancy the idea of returning to play for an Italian club other than Milan.

Chelsea and Manchester City have also been linked with him for the summer should Real decide to sell.

Giorgio Chiellini plans to stay with Juventus for the long term, hinting that he wants a new deal.

Reports suggested Chiellini has been followed by Real Madrid, but he has wasted no time in changing the views in Turin.

"There are many things being written and spoken about me, and it's nice to be linked with big teams," he told Juventus Channel.

"But I have no intention of leaving Juventus. I am fine here and I hope to stay for a long time and to extend my relationship with the club.

"I think this will happen in the summer."

Defender Giorgio Chiellini has suggested that Juventus are not a great team, pointing to changes in personnel and a lack of consistency as the main reasons.

"We want to get past these difficulties that we saw in the second-half of the game against Bari, where everyone gave their best to recover. Watching from the outside, you notice certain issues," he was quoted as saying by Il Corriere dello Sport.

"Compared to the beginning of the season, something seems to have broken down for us.

"We lack a lot of things and have changed many players. For example, [Pavel] Nedved is not here anymore, someone who is part of the history of Juventus.

'Momo' has been suffering from an abductor muscle injury in his left leg, but wants to come back better and stronger on 2010.

"I may be out at the moment, but I hope to recover and be 100 per cent for 2010.

However, Chiellini warned the Bianconeri that they need more wins under the belt in order to get back on track and they must start doing so from this weekend against Siena.
