Juventus ready to rival Liverpool in bid for Portuguese defender(talkSPORT)

Juventus are ready to rival Liverpool in the race for Zenit defender Bruno Alves.

The Reds have been linked with a January swoop for the Portuguese centre-back, who joined Zenit from Porto in a £20m deal in 2010.

Liverpool were among the interested parties when Zenit eventually landed him last year and they have now reignited their interest as they look to bolster their defence.

But now sources in Italy have revealed that Juventus have made Alves a priority New Year target.

The Russian club would look to recoup most of the £20m they paid Porto less than 18 months ago but it has been suggested that they would accept around £15m for the defender, 29, who has struggled to settle in the country.
